Alabaster vs. Marble vs. Travertine Lighting
Share
Natural stone lighting is not one material with one look. Alabaster, marble and travertine each respond to light differently, and that difference matters when you are choosing a fixture for daily use.
Alabaster
Alabaster is valued for translucency. When lit, it can glow softly and reveal cloud-like veining. It works well for chandeliers, pendants, sconces and lamps where the shade itself is part of the light experience.
Marble
Marble usually feels denser and more architectural. It can be beautiful as a base, accent or opaque shade, but it often reflects light more than it diffuses it.
Travertine
Travertine brings an earthy, porous texture. It suits warmer interiors, neutral palettes and fixtures where the surface texture is meant to be seen up close.
Choosing for a Room
Choose alabaster when glow is the priority, marble when a polished stone statement matters, and travertine when you want a calmer, textured presence.
